Rapp Announces More Than $348,848 in Fire and Ambulance Grants Coming to Forest, McKean and Warren Counties
1/23/2014
WARREN — Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren/Forest/McKean) announced today that 31 fire departments and ambulance organizations throughout Forest, McKean and Warren counties have been awarded approximately $348,848 from a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Our emergency service providers are the real everyday heroes of our communities and I am honored to announce that hundreds of thousands of dollars are once again on the way to benefit our dedicated first responders throughout Warren, Forest and McKean counties,” said Rapp. “For nearly a decade, I have proudly supported the expansion of this critical funding program that has allowed so many of our local volunteer fire and ambulance organizations to obtain new equipment, take training classes, pay down debt or improve their facilities. Fire and EMS services are so essential to the safety and survival of every community and we must continue to do whatever we can at the state level to support these organizations.”

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue.
Projects eligible for funding include: construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
