HARRISBURG — Rep. Kathy L. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), Republican chair of the House Health Committee, announced the committee reported out one bill to address duplicative state and county health centers. The committee also reported out 10 resolutions, sending them to the full House for consideration.

“While the members of the House Health Committee have our differences, it’s good to see that we can all agree on the need to bring awareness to certain professions, diseases and conditions by designating calendar weeks or months in their names,” Rapp said. “In addition, we were able to report out a piece of common sense legislation to save taxpayer dollars by removing redundancies between our state and county health centers.”

House Bill 1131 would remove the requirement for the state to operate a health center in counties that choose to operate their own. This would only apply to those counties establishing new county health departments approved under the Local Health Administration law. No health services would be lost as the county would now be the provider.

House Resolution 33 would recognize the month of July 2023 as "Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 55 would recognize the month of April 2023 as “Donate Life Month” in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 74 would designate the week of May 1-7, 2023, as "Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 85 would designate the month of May 2023 as “Fitness Month” in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 92 would recognize the week of April 23-29, 2023, as "National Infertility Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 93 would designate the week of May 14-20, 2023, as "Food Allergy Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 96 would recognize May 2, 2023, as "World Asthma Day" in Pennsylvania.

House Resolution 99 would recognize the week of May 7-13, 2023, as "National Hospital Week" in Pennsylvania.
