HARRISBURG — Rep. Kathy L. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), Republican chair of the House Health Committee, announced a bill she amended that would instruct medical professionals to conduct a postpartum screening for depression upon delivery and at the first few postnatal check-up visits was unanimously approved by the House. Rapp’s amendment removes the Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) screening and information distribution requirements, and instead gives providers the option to hand out educational and resource information to their perinatal and postpartum patients.

Bill with Rapp Amendment Improving Lab Oversight for Medical Marijuana Passes House

HARRISBURG — Rep. Kathy L. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), Republican chair of the House Health Committee, announced the bill improving lab oversight for medical marijuana, which includes her amendment, passed the House by a 196-6 vote. Rapp’s amendment furthered the oversight of labs in several ways, including requiring them to establish annual inspections and submit proposed modifications to standard operating procedures within 30 days; clarifying violations are subject to civil penalties; and allowing the Department of Health to revoke or suspend licenses.

Rapp Amendment Restores Common Sense to Doula Bill

House Bill 1633 now includes an amendment that excludes employers under certain conditions in sixth-, seventh- and eighth-class counties, which includes Warren, Crawford and Forest counties. Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest) announced today the Northwest PA Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC) will receive a $200,000 Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) grant to support manufacturing programs. The money will go to NWIRC’s “Project Manufacturing Talent Stream,” a program that brings students and other future job seekers on-site to manufacturers to explore career opportunities.
